Crunch time

With only 16 days left until semester ends, it is crunch time. I have to finish up a lot of projects and study for finals. The last 2 weeks of any semester suck. However, this semester sucks particularly.

On the other hand, it has finally started snowing here in Michigan and the weather completely blows! In the coming week, the weather isn’t supposed to get any better. This does not help with my situation. Gotta go! Time to start hitting them books :(

Increase your RSS Subscribers with rssHugger

To starts things off, rssHugger is a really cool name to have for a domain name. Having said, rssHugger is all about increasing your RSS subscribers by promoting your blog. I heard about rssHugger from John Chow’s review of it. When John Chow wrote about the review, there was a subscription of $20 and you would get $10 off after writing a blog about it. In order words you would, you will pay $10 for 10 years.

After John Chow wrote a review on it, rssHugger has decide you can get a free account by writing a review about them. Hence, my review of rssHugger. Currently, there are 39 rss Feeds registered to rssHugger. I am sure that this number will increase once people find out about the free way of signing up for the site.

Overall, I think the idea is a great. The way it basically works is that you get exposure to your blog’s rss feed through them. The way your blog can be found is using your own unique page or through their Top 100 and also through their random blog. Let’s see how much exposure I can get from rssHugger.

If you haven’t join rssHugger yet, I highly recommend that you do. Come on people, its FREE after you write a review.

Knowledge is power

Most people know this but don’t fully take advantage of it.  If everyone in the world, read at least one book a month, the world would be a better person.  The sad part is that nobody actually does that.  The ones that do read often are the ones that look at life in a different way.

When I was reading about the cyclone that hit in Bangladesh, it made me realize how the world will change for the ones that passed away.  I guarantee 90 % of the people don’t even know that the cyclone even happened.  Everyone is too busy consumed in their own things.  Everything is about themselves.

If everyone took 5 minutes out of their day to see what is happening in the world, they would realize how truly lucky they are.  It just gets frustrating when people are bitching about the fact that they are not getting by on a daily basis.  The last thing I would like to say is get yourself out of your comfort zone and learn something new.  Whether that be learning a new language or some interesting facts.

Here’s an interesting fact: In Michigan, a woman isn’t allowed to cut her own hair without her husband’s permission.  I don’t know if that is an interesting fact or a messed up fact/law.

Benefits of being mentioned on JohnChow.com

John Chow wrote a post on how much would dinner cost at Benihanna. He also ran a contest by asking his readers how much the total bill was? I asked Zac Johnson how much the bill was and in the end I did not win but I did get mentioned as the evil award for asking Zac. In return, I received almost 60 hits in first day and more to come in the future.

Reason this is so beneficial for me:

  • John Chow will remember my name any time I want to mention something to him.
  • I will receive multiple number of hits from JohnChow.com
  • I wanted to John Chow to know who I am and now he knows.

I know this isn’t a big win for me but its a start. Anytime you are mentioned by a famous blogger in your niche, it is a big win for me. I have only been blogging for less than a month and being recognized by John Chow is a great start. Let’s see if I can get mentioned by Shoemoney and Problogger.

5 reasons I blog

There are many reason I blog. Here are my top 5 reasons.

1. Expressing myself

There is not a better way to express myself than to write about it. I enjoy writing a lot anyways and that is why I started a blog. Blogging is an art of its own.

2. Meeting new people

Just as you meet new people when you start school or go to a party, the same thing happens on the Internet. I have made a lot of new friends from all over the world through blogging. I hope these friendships last a lifetime.

3. Sharing is caring

The reason where I am today is because of the great teachers I have had over the years and the great mentors. The main reason for this blog is to teach others on succeeding in life and having fun at the same time.

4. Making money online

Currently I am just trying to establish this blog with writing great articles. Down the road, I am planning on monetizing this blog and making some money off it.

5. Blogging is fun!

Most people start blogging because they think they can money off it. While this is true, you should only do it if you like doing it. I love blogging. I only do things that I enjoy and blogging falls right in.

What are some of the reasons why you blog?

What motivates me part 2

I wrote earlier about what motivates me part 1. I am not sure how many parts this will have but here is number 2.

A lot of the times people act their shit when they have something and they brag about it and in the process, they somehow just piss me off and this is a big motivating factor in telling them that listen you’re nothing and the only way to do this is to be better than whoever they are.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and the only way he got where he was is by working hard and feeding off the negative energy he was receiving. I want to be the Michael Jordan of the blog world. I know I have long ways to go but if I keep up the great work ethic and follow my dreams, I will reach there.

My parents

This is by far the biggest motivating factor for me. My parents have sacrificed so much for me and my brother. I remember times when they would take me and my brother to McDonald’s and they would buy us food but they would not eat themselves. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what love is. The biggest reason I want to be a successful person in life is so I can take care of my parents and let them know everything they missed due to me and my brother. Kids these days don’t give a crap about their parents and just brush them off like they any other person. Parents are the number one person I am where I am today and I will never forget that.

Setting realistic goals

There are a lot of people that would like to make the money that John Chow and Shoemoney make but in reality, John Chow and Shoemoney are the top 1 % earners in the blogging world. I would love to make what they make right now but in order for me to do that, I have establish this blog and set smaller goals so I can reach my ultimate goal of making $10,000+ per month off this blog.

Setting smaller goals

In order for me to get to where I want to be, I have to set smaller goals such as making $500/month and then $1,000/month and so on. In order for me to get there, I have to remember what I do best: blog on a regular basis. This is one thing that most people do not do and this is why they do not succeed in making the money they want to make.

I know in the end everyone is capable of doing things but it’s just that they do not want to put the effort into blogging or anything for that matter. I am where I am today because I have worked hard to achieve the things that are important to me (Getting a bachelor’s degree, doing good in school)

Have a partner in crime

Another thing to have in reaching goals is a person that motivates you or someone who is trying to reach at the same spot you do. You have no idea what a little competition can do for someone. I am a very competitive person and I do not need anyone to motivate to reach my goals but it does not hurt when someone says, ” You can do it Vik”.

Be happy with what you have

Anywhere you go, you will find people that aren’t content with what they have. They either want a bigger house or a better car and so on. What people don’t realize is that you should be thankful with the stuff you have. There are people out there that don’t have running water or even food to eat on a daily basis and we are worried about not having a big enough house! It is pretty sad but that’s reality.

One way you can be happy with what you have is to take a trip to a third world country where people don’t have running water, food or even a roof under their head. Once you realize that, you will definitely realize that you should be happy with what you have.

Michigan vs Michigan State

I am a huge sports fan especially college sports. Today, University of Michigan (U of M) is playing Michigan State at 3:30 pm est. I can’t wait for the game to start and see who comes on top. Michigan State has the home field advantage but I think in the end U of M will come victorious in the end.

I couldn’t imagine life without sports. I am a sports junkie. I watch basketball, football, soccer, baseball, tennis, hockey.

Anyways, game time is less than an hour way. I have to get my snacks ready in front of the big-screen. GO BLUE!

What motivates me part 1

There are a lot of things that motivate me in life. I don’t know how many parts this series of post will be so this will be named part 1. The following are just some things that motivate me:

Haters

There are a lot of people that hate for no reason. When people say that you can’t do something, you want to prove them wrong. This is one of the biggest reasons for me to stay motivated. I want to prove them wrong when they say you can’t do something.

Goals

If you don’t have goals that you want to accomplish or reach, you are not going to get very far in life. For example, my goal is to have $100,000 in my bank by the end of 2008. I know that seems like a lot but if I have save little by little, I can reach there.

More posts on what motivates me will be coming shorty.
