I am sure everyone is heard of Facebook.  It is the biggest thing on the Internet right now.  If you do not have an account on Facebook, I highly recommend that you get one.  Here is why:

Networking: You can meet new people if you blog or if you want to find a job.  Most large firms have groups that you can join.  This helps you to get a foot in the door (well not really but you might be able to see new job openings etc).  This allows to interact with people that either work there or interned there.  My friend just found a job through Facebook.  He messaged the person that posted an Electrical Engineering opening job in Miami.  Congrats Bob!

Keeping in touch with friends:  You never when in life you need someone.  Therefore it does not hurt to write on someone’s wall or wishing them happy birthday.

For example,  Hey insert name of friend,  Happy birthday.  How have you been? What are you doing these days ?  See! It’s that simple.  Don’t be afraid that they might say,”why did he/she message me out of nowhere?  They will appreciate the fact you took the time out of your day and wish them Happy birthday.
